Technical Writer
We are currently looking for a Technical Writer who has the ability to conceptualize, research, design, write and modify software product documentation and various internal processes, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Research product changes to determine scope of edits for assigned areas of documentation.
Write new documentation based on feature requirement documents, specifications, information from developers and product managers, and use of the product.
Revise documentation to incorporate product updates and product enhancements requested by customers and internal users.
Provide input on documentation design and implementation.
Proofread and edit documentation to ensure consistency of language and style, as well as correct application of templates.
Produce screenshots, flowcharts, and other graphics.
Requirements:
BA/BS in Technical Writing, Communications, or another related writing discipline and 7+ years experience as a Technical Writer; or
Master’s in Technical Writing or related writing discipline and 5+ years experience working as a software technical writer.
Experience learning, using, and writing about client/server and Web application business software.
Previous experience working with or documenting business intelligence/data warehousing and financial modeling software highly desired.
Previous experience documenting relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
Knowledge or experience of the commercial real estate and investment management industries a big plus.
Experience in meeting tight deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.
Self-starter: motivated and able to take initiative to get things done with little daily oversight.
Experience working with cross-functional teams across product development lifecycles.
Proficiency with industry-standard documentation development tools, including MS Word, Framemaker, Acrobat, Photoshop, RoboHelp or MadCap Flare, SnagIt, Paint Shop Pro or FullShot.
